Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has expanded its insurance brokerage capabilities in Canada with the acquisition of Apollo Insurance Solutions Ltd., a Vancouver-based digital insurance broker and managing general agency specializing in tenant insurance.
Gallagher announced the transaction on August 5, 2026. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Apollo combines insurance brokerage and MGA capabilities with a proprietary technology platform designed to simplify the insurance placement process. The company focuses primarily on tenant insurance across Canada and uses artificial intelligence within its platform to help streamline how coverage is distributed and placed.
The acquisition gives Gallagher additional digital capabilities as the global brokerage continues investing in technology-supported insurance distribution. Apollo’s platform and specialized tenant insurance expertise will complement Gallagher’s existing retail property and casualty operations in Canada.
Following the acquisition, Apollo founder and CEO Jeff McCann and his team will remain based in Vancouver. The business will operate under the direction of Dave Partington, who leads Gallagher’s retail property and casualty brokerage operations across Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Gallagher Chairman and CEO J. Patrick Gallagher Jr. said Apollo’s technology and employees will strengthen the company’s Canadian operations and support its ability to provide innovative insurance solutions. He also welcomed McCann and the Apollo team to Gallagher’s global organization.
For Apollo, becoming part of Gallagher provides access to the resources and market reach of one of the world’s largest insurance brokerage organizations while bringing its digital insurance capabilities into a much larger distribution network.
The transaction is also notable for Apollo’s combination of traditional insurance expertise with technology-driven distribution. Digital insurance platforms have become an increasingly important component of the brokerage and MGA sectors as agencies look for ways to improve the customer experience, automate portions of the placement process and efficiently distribute insurance products to larger groups of consumers.
Apollo has positioned itself within this market by focusing on tenant insurance, a product particularly suited to digital distribution. Its technology allows insurance placement to be incorporated into a streamlined online process while its MGA capabilities provide another layer of insurance product and distribution expertise.
The addition of Apollo follows Gallagher’s broader acquisition strategy of adding insurance businesses that offer specialized expertise, established client relationships or capabilities that can complement its existing operations.
Gallagher has remained an active acquirer in the insurance brokerage sector, completing transactions involving retail agencies, employee benefits firms, wholesale brokers and specialty insurance businesses in the United States and international markets. The Apollo transaction adds a technology-focused insurance organization to that growing portfolio.
The acquisition also builds on Gallagher’s existing Canadian presence. In July, the company acquired Wilson M. Beck Insurance Services Inc., a Burnaby, British Columbia-based retail insurance brokerage serving commercial clients across Western Canada. That firm brought expertise in industries including construction, commercial real estate, surety bonding, hospitality and mining.
With Apollo joining the organization, Gallagher gains another Vancouver-area business while expanding in a different segment of the Canadian insurance market. Apollo brings a focus on digitally distributed tenant coverage and proprietary technology, complementing Gallagher’s more traditional commercial and retail brokerage capabilities.
