Amynta Group has agreed to acquire Southern States Underwriters and SSC Insurance Agency, the insurance operations of Southern States Cooperative. The transaction will expand Amynta’s specialty insurance platform into the agribusiness market.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition remains subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Richmond, Virginia-based Southern States Underwriters was founded in 1953 and operates as a managing general underwriter specializing in commercial property and casualty insurance for the agricultural industry. The company serves suppliers, distributors and service providers with insurance solutions designed around the specialized risks of agribusiness operations.
Southern States Underwriters also serves as attorney-in-fact and exclusive distribution partner for Southern States Insurance Exchange, a reciprocal insurance organization focused on the agribusiness sector.
Following completion of the transaction, President John Madden will continue leading the business. Southern States Cooperative will also remain an important long-term customer.
Amynta Chairman and CEO Robert Giammarco said Southern States Underwriters’ more than 70 years of experience in agribusiness will complement Amynta’s diversified insurance platform. He added that the company looks forward to continuing its relationship with Southern States Cooperative and welcoming Madden and his team to Amynta.
The acquisition gives Amynta an established operation with specialized agricultural insurance expertise while adding another market segment to its growing insurance services platform.
