Thimble has partnered with Bold Penguin to introduce an AI-powered integration designed to make small business insurance quoting and binding faster for brokers.
The companies have developed technology that allows their systems to communicate and perform quoting tasks using AI agent-to-agent capabilities. The integration enables Bold Penguin users to use natural language to initiate and complete parts of the small business insurance quoting process within their existing workflow.
Rather than replacing brokers, the companies said the technology is designed to support producers by reducing manual steps and making it easier to obtain coverage options for clients.
Thimble, a digital small business managing general agency, and Bold Penguin, an insurance distribution platform, see the integration as an example of how AI agents could connect insurance carriers, MGAs and brokers more efficiently.
Jay Rajendra, chief strategy and innovation officer at Arch Capital Group, Thimble’s parent company, said the technology demonstrates how AI agents representing carriers and brokers could communicate and transact alongside human decision-making. He emphasized that human expertise, oversight and decision-making remain part of the process.
The companies also focused on controls around the technology during its development. Lakshan De Silva, chief data and technology officer at Bold Penguin, said the work included considerations around data and decision transparency, guardrails, security and regulatory compliance.
Ian Westerman, president of Thimble, said the partnership is intended to help brokers find appropriate coverage for clients in real time without adding additional steps or complexity to the quoting process.
The integration builds on Thimble’s focus on digital small business insurance distribution while giving Bold Penguin users another AI-enabled option for accessing coverage.
As insurers and distributors continue experimenting with agentic AI, the partnership provides an early example of how separate insurance technology platforms can use AI agents to communicate and carry out portions of the quoting process while keeping brokers involved in client decisions.
