Equal Parts has acquired Independence Insurance Agency, a Miramar, Florida-based brokerage specializing in commercial transportation insurance.
The deal establishes Equal Parts’ presence in Florida and marks its second transportation-focused acquisition announced in consecutive weeks. The company recently announced the acquisition of ProSource Insurance Agency, a Plano, Texas-based transportation insurance brokerage.
Independence Insurance Agency was founded by co-presidents Aaron Hollander and Luis Reyes. The agency serves owner-operators, new trucking ventures, small fleets and established transportation companies with insurance solutions designed for commercial trucking operations.
Mike Witte, co-founder and CEO of Equal Parts, said transportation is a market where specialized insurance knowledge is particularly important. He said the additions of Independence and ProSource bring experienced transportation insurance teams onto the Equal Parts platform while providing those agencies with additional technology, carrier access, operational support and capital for growth.
Independence combines its transportation insurance expertise with a technology-focused operating model designed around efficiency, responsiveness and long-term client relationships. Hollander focuses on developing scalable business systems, while Reyes brings an emphasis on client relationships and personalized service.
Hollander and Reyes said they founded Independence with the goal of building an agency focused on clients rather than carriers. They said Equal Parts’ technology and operational resources will help reduce administrative complexity and allow the agency to spend more time serving customers.
Following the acquisition, Independence will continue operating under Hollander and Reyes. The agency will gain access to Equal Parts’ proprietary technology, centralized operations, expanded carrier relationships, shared services and acquisition resources.
Mike Meller, co-founder and chief operating officer of Equal Parts, said the company sees an opportunity to connect transportation insurance expertise across its growing network. He said each specialized agency can add relationships, markets and capabilities that can be shared across the broader platform.
The acquisition further expands Equal Parts’ national transportation insurance capabilities, particularly for trucking companies, commercial fleets and owner-operators.
