InsureScan MGA LLC has launched its nonstandard private passenger auto insurance program in Texas, expanding the company into its third state as it continues a planned national rollout.
The Texas program is distributed exclusively through appointed independent insurance agencies. InsureScan does not sell policies directly to consumers, maintaining an agent-only distribution model.
InsureScan founder and CEO Mark Chappell said the Texas expansion builds on the company’s existing operations in Alabama and South Carolina. He said the company’s strategy is to support independent agents with technology, underwriting information and direct access to decision-makers.
A key part of the program is InsureScan’s patented mobile quoting platform. Agents can begin the process by scanning a customer’s driver’s license, which allows driver, vehicle and household information to prefill portions of the application. According to the company, eligible business can move from quote to bind in approximately 90 seconds.
The technology is designed to reduce repetitive data entry while improving the quality of information collected during the underwriting process.
Chappell said speed is important, but the company is also focused on underwriting accuracy and helping agents write profitable business.
The Texas program combines automated front-end underwriting with customer service and claims support. Appointed independent agencies receive commissions and direct assistance rather than being routed exclusively through a traditional call center.
InsureScan plans to expand its Texas distribution network gradually, initially focusing on qualified independent agencies that specialize in personal auto insurance. The company said the phased approach will allow it to evaluate quoting activity, pricing and underwriting results as the program grows.
Chappell said InsureScan is focused on disciplined, long-term expansion and views technology and independent-agent relationships as complementary parts of its business model.
The Texas launch represents the latest stage of InsureScan’s expansion beyond Alabama and South Carolina as the MGA works to grow its nonstandard auto insurance platform in additional markets.
