INSURICA has acquired WorkCompOne, a digital insurance agency specializing in workers’ compensation coverage for small businesses.
The acquisition, effective September 1, 2026, includes WorkCompOne’s website, existing book of business and customer acquisition capabilities.
Founded in 2012, WorkCompOne was established to simplify the process of obtaining workers’ compensation insurance for small-business owners. The company developed an online platform that allows businesses to obtain quotes and purchase coverage digitally.
Over the years, WorkCompOne has helped thousands of small businesses secure workers’ compensation insurance. The company also worked with insurance carriers to develop integrated rating solutions designed to improve risk classification, increase quoting accuracy and speed up the insurance purchasing process.
John Hester, chief acquisitions and digital strategy officer at INSURICA, said the acquisition strengthens the company’s ability to reach small-business customers through digital channels while creating additional growth opportunities.
Hester also noted that WorkCompOne’s technology could benefit other areas of INSURICA beyond its digital division, particularly its insurance programs business through improved rating and policy issuance capabilities.
Todd Smith, founder of WorkCompOne, said the insurance technology market has evolved significantly since the company launched. He believes INSURICA is positioned to expand WorkCompOne’s capabilities through its digital agency, INSURICA Direct.
Smith emphasized that the goal of insurance technology should be to improve the experience for insurance professionals, carriers and customers rather than replace agents.
The acquisition supports INSURICA’s continued investment in digital insurance distribution and expands its capabilities in the small-business workers’ compensation market.
