Warner Pacific has acquired Beere&Purves, a California-based general agency serving employee benefits brokers throughout the state.
The transaction marks Warner Pacific’s first major general agency acquisition in its home state of California and expands the carrier, product and service resources available to Beere&Purves’ broker partners.
Founded in 1929 and headquartered in Walnut Creek, California, Beere&Purves has nearly a century of experience supporting benefits brokers. The firm provides employee benefits solutions and has developed longstanding relationships within the California brokerage market.
Pete Cella, president of Beere&Purves, will remain with the organization in a leadership role following the acquisition. Brokers will also continue working with their existing Beere&Purves team.
Edward Lehman, CEO of Warner Pacific, said Beere&Purves’ experience in the California market, broker relationships and focus on service made the firm a strong fit for Warner Pacific. He said the combination will provide additional capabilities to the brokers Beere&Purves currently serves.
Through Warner Pacific, Beere&Purves’ broker partners will gain access to a broader selection of carriers and employee benefits products, along with additional technology and service capabilities available through Warner Pacific’s national platform.
Cella said finding a partner that shared Beere&Purves’ focus on supporting brokers was an important consideration in the transaction. He said joining Warner Pacific will allow the firm to maintain its existing approach while providing brokers with additional products, resources and support.
The acquisition expands Warner Pacific’s employee benefits distribution operations in California while combining two general agencies that primarily serve the broker community.
MarshBerry served as financial advisor to Beere&Purves in connection with the transaction. Financial terms were not disclosed in the announcement.
